Charleston, SC

So, in my haste to enjoy my two week vacation I entirely forgot to pay any attention to my blog. Originally, I intended to update daily on my whereabouts in the country; unfortunately, that didn't pan out. In an attempt to still salvage some of my blogging material, I've decided to post about each location (Charleston, Supply/Wilmington, Charlotte, Maryville, and New York) in individual blogs. So here's my first go ...

Charleston, SC:

After finishing my final exam of my college career, I drove home ... only to leave 12 hours later for a mini road trip to what I would later call "The Frattiest Place on Earth".

Charleston was absolutely amazing. Even though we were there a mere 36 hours, I can't imagine having seen more of the city in that time. The first day was spent on King Street, where shopping was more than plentiful. I got a nice Charleston tee from my new favorite store, M. Dumas & Sons, and ate an amazing local Thai/sushi place. After that, we made a short drive down to Waterfront Park and saw the harbor ... it was amazing.

After a quick trip to the hotel, which was over the mammoth Ravenel Bridge, we rallied and made it back to downtown for dinner. The food at Southend Brewery was amazing, and the atmosphere of downtown even more so. It was fun to see so many people out and walking around the town on a Friday night.

The next morning was a busy one, as we had to leave for North Carolina by noon. We decided to take a carriage tour we had heard so much about, and it did not disappoint. I think we saw every house in the city in that hour, which included some beautiful ones that ranged anywhere from $500,000 to $23 million! Overall, the carriage ride was an amazing use of our money ... I really felt like it gave me a deeper understanding of that great city. We followed that up with a nice lunch at the Charleston Crab Shack, where I got a delicious blackened Mahi sandwich (btw, the seafood there is AMAZING).

After that, we packed up our bags and headed north for the next leg of our trip. Unfortunately, I don't think me writing a ten minute blog on the experience truly does it justice. Leaving Charleston, I kept imagining myself going back to live there one day. It was truly a gorgeous city.

I'm also deeply sorry for the lack of pictures to go along with the descriptions ... they really do help a lot compared to my amateur writing style. Feel free to see the litany of photos from all my trips on Facebook or Twitter. I'll make an attempt to post some on here as well.

Next stop: Supply, North Carolina.
