College Football Weekend Recap: Week 3 (1st edition)

So I just realized two things ... I haven't blogged in far too long; and I should already have a college football blog. Well, I suppose it's better late than never.

First, I'd like to recap what caught my attention each week. Then, give my personal rankings.

There weren't too many impressive games this week early on ... excluding FSU's 52-0 beat down of Wake Forest. Granted, Wake was unranked entering the matchup ... but it was an impressive shutout nonetheless. Most of the other teams in the top tier dominated (considering there wasn't much stiff competition).

Obviously we saw #13 Virginia Tech get upset by unranked Pittsburgh ... but isn't Va Tech overrated every year? Color me bored. As for my one Pet Peeve of the Week (note: the bold indicates a weekly segment): How on earth is Ohio State ranked 12th in the country?! I don't know what the coaches that vote in the polls find more impressive ... their win over UCF last week or their narrow escape of lowly Cal this one. I'll give you that Urban Meyer has some talent on his roster, but some talent does not a #12 team make. My prediction: A couple weeks from now, the 3-2 Buckeyes will be unranked.

Late Night Recap:
Boy, I thought UT really was back ... but defense wins game and they had none to speak of. Also, to all people that think the Florida Gators are 'back', think again. Their two big plays on offense showed potential, but an FCS team could've put up 28 on that awful Volunteer defense. I see good things coming, but hold on to your pants. Notre Dame looked impressive in what almost appeared to be an easy, hum-drum upset of #10 Michigan State. The Stanford Cardinal know how to finish off the night right with a shocking upset of second-ranked USC ... therefore throwing off my entire top ten and sending me back to the drawing board early Sunday morning.

As for my current top ten rankings after this week of football:

1. Alabama (3-0)
2. Oregon (3-0)
3. Florida State (3-0)
4. LSU (3-0)
5. Oklahoma (2-0)
6. West Virginia (2-0)
7. Georgia (3-0)
8. Southern California (2-1)
9. Clemson (3-0)
10. South Carolina (3-0)

My Team To Watch For: #20 Notre Dame.

See you next week!
