A Simple Southern Staple

Full disclosure: I don't find myself with the opportunity to 'dress up' that much; but that doesn't mean I (or you) have to look like you just rolled out of bed every day. For the sake of continuing my newfound fashion blogging style, I've decided to start it off with something simple.

Basically, this is an outfit anyone can put together rather quickly — and it'll have you looking and feeling better than anybody else at whatever casual event you're attending. It's what I call a staple, because you can't call yourself a respectable Southern dresser without having at least a dozen different variations of this setup.

Without any further ado...

If you don’t have a pair of Sperry’s Topsiders, you might as well not even call yourself a man. The go-to in the world of ‘boat shoes’, you can see that mine are pretty worn. Pencil them in for about 350 days of the year.

These shorts are from J. Crew, which always has some amazing clothes — especially when it comes to shorts (and of the pastel variety). This particular pair is a 9" Stanton short

This is probably my favorite polo in the world. Made by Southern Tide, the Skipjack Polo is literally the most comfortable thing you can put on your upper body while also looking respectable.

Here is the look. (Ignore my ridiculously-worn-out belt.) I absolutely love the seafoam green and baby blue combination.

A close-up of the polo itself. So comfy!
Another favorite of mine — my Southern Proper navy seersucker frat hat is an all-timer.
Wear it to the front or backwards … either way you’ll look incredibly good.

There’s the finished product. It’s really not that hard (or expensive) to pull off! Yes, you do have to spend some money but is there really a price too high for looking this good? I think not.
